Sydney Writers’ Festival 2026 Breaks Records for a Second Consecutive Year

The Sydney Writers’ Festival (SWF) 2026 has officially wrapped up after delivering the most successful Festival in its 29-year history, with record-breaking attendance and ticket sales for the second year in a row. More than 100,000 people attended the Festival’s 200-plus events, which featured over 250 writers, thinkers and storytellers from around the world. Across the eight-day program, more than 55 per cent of events sold out, highlighting the growing appetite for literature, ideas and meaningful cultural conversations in Sydney and beyond. Sydney Writers’ Festival Family Day at the State Library of NSW

Sydney Writers’ Festival is launching its very first Family Day, and it’s set to bring stories, creativity and imagination to life at the State Library of New South Wales on Sunday 23 November 2025. This brand-new initiative is part of the Festival’s expanded year-round program, supported through a partnership with the State Library and funding from the NSW Government.
