A heartfelt thank you note to mum and dad is always cherished and grandparents' faces light up with joy when they receive a letter from their grandchildren. Our mission is to share the happiness that comes from the heartfelt exchange of handwritten letters with loved ones. The joy a letter brings can be cherished forever. After all, who ever discards a love letter? While World Letter Writing Day is celebrated on 1st September, we invite everyone to embrace the art of letter writing, any day of the year! An Endless Summer Surprise on the Bondi to Bronte Walk

As an Eastern Suburbs local, the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk is practically part of my DNA. It’s where I clear my head, find creative inspiration, and occasionally bump into familiar faces. But last Saturday, what unfolded was something altogether unexpected. I was walking toward Bondi Beach, camera never far from reach, when I noticed a very recognisable figure heading in the opposite direction toward Bronte. It was none other than Richard Marx. Yes — the voice behind “Right Here Waiting,” “Hazard,” and “Endless Summer Nights.” The soundtrack to countless 80s and 90s love stories. And there he was, casually…

More Than Just Mail: The Outback Post Offices Keeping Small Towns Alive

In the vast stretches of outback Queensland, post offices are far more than just places to send and receive mail — they are lifelines for small communities. From banking and bill payments to providing a friendly face and a place to connect, these humble buildings hold towns together. In remote Australia, a post office isn’t just infrastructure. It’s continuity. It’s conversation. It’s community. Saving Thargomindah’s Post Office Take Thargomindah, affectionately known as “Thargo” to locals. With a population of just 243 people and located nearly 1,000 kilometres west of Brisbane, it’s a town where every single business matters. When the…

Going Analogue in 2026: The Letter Writing Renaissance Fueling the Digital Detox Movement

In a world flooded with AI-generated captions, auto-replies and perfectly polished DMs, something unexpected is happening in 2026. Gen Z and Millennials are going analogue. Yes — actual paper. Real ink. Stamps. Postboxes. Welcome to the Letter Writing Renaissance 2026, where “snail mail” isn’t outdated — it’s iconic. The Slow Communication Revolution We’ve spent a decade chasing faster replies, better Wi-Fi and instant everything. Now? The vibe has shifted. Young people are consciously choosing slow communication. Why? Because waiting is the point. There’s a thrill in anticipation. The quiet drama of checking the mailbox. The intimacy of holding something someone…

The Importance of Handwritten Letters — And Why Barack Obama Wrote 10 Every Night

In a world of instant messages and overflowing inboxes, handwritten letters feel rare. But during his eight years as President of the United States, Barack Obama proved just how powerful they can be. At the height of his presidency, Obama received around 40,000 letters every single day at the White House. Messages poured in from across the country — from children, teachers, veterans, factory workers, parents and people going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. And here’s what makes this story remarkable: He answered them. Not all 40,000, of course. But every night — without fail — he…

The World Letter: A Collective Love Letter to the World

What if humanity came together to write one love letter — not to a person, but to the world itself? The World Letter is an ongoing participatory art project founded by French-Iranian artist Cocovan. Its purpose is beautifully simple: to create a collective love letter to the world, written by people from every country, culture and walk of life. The story began in May 2017 on a street in Berlin, Germany. Cocovan had set up a desk in a public space for what was meant to be a one-day performance, writing his own love letter to the world. Midway through,…

From the Edge of the Arctic: The World’s Northernmost Letterbox

Far above the Arctic Circle, where icy fjords meet vast polar skies, sits one of the most extraordinary mailboxes on Earth. The world’s northernmost letterbox is located at the Ny-Ålesund Post Office in Svalbard, Norway, offering letter writers a rare chance to send mail from the very top of the world. The Northernmost Post Office on the Planet Ny-Ålesund lies at 78°56′ north latitude on Spitsbergen Island, making it the northernmost permanent civilian settlement in the world. The Cardrona Hotel: Where History, Stories and a Very Special Letterbox Meet

High in New Zealand’s South Island, along the winding Crown Range Road between Wānaka and Queenstown, sits one of the country’s most recognisable and beloved landmarks: the Cardrona Hotel. With its weathered 1860s façade, mountain backdrop and unmistakable character, this historic pub is more than just a place to stop for a meal or a drink — it’s a place where stories linger. Built in 1863 during the Central Otago gold rush, the Cardrona Hotel has witnessed generations of travellers, miners, locals and wanderers pass through its doors.
